Remington Outdoor topped previously set hiring and wage goals at its plant in Huntsville.

The Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville-Madison County said the firearm maker had 324 employees as of Aug. 31 with an average hourly wage nearly $10 higher than listed in the development agreement between the company, City of Huntsville and state, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Per the agreement, Remington was required to to generate 280 full-time positions by the close of the second project year ending Feb. 28.

Remington is also still in the process of hiring production team members through AIDT.

The company was on the receiving end of an extensive incentive package from the city, local counties and state – prior to the launch of the $110 million plant located on 100 Electronics Boulevard in Huntsville.
