SYKES Enterprises is set to open a new customer service support center in east Montgomery by September and hire 500 workers over three years, officials announced today.
Half of those employers will be hired this year, SYKES North America operations Senior Vice President Rob Duncan said, during a press conference held at the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
SYKES specializes in providing customer service and technical support for customers of Fortune 500 companies.
“Our clients are looking for experts who can quickly come up-to-speed on customer case services and then provide kindness, care and efficiency to customer calls,” Duncan said. “We see all of those characteristics in the great people of Montgomery and are looking forward to having your people become SYKES people.”
SYKES is hiring now for its new call center at 201 Technacenter Drive. Several positions from site director of operations, human resources, team leaders and customer representatives are listed on the company’s website.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange said city and county officials have been working to close the deal with SYKES for about a year. The company will receive a performance-based incentive package from the city, county and state.
He said SYKES is locating in an existing building that formerly served as a call center.
The company expects to invest $3 million into the building.
More than 1,000 new jobs have been created in Montgomery so far this year, Strange said. He expects announcements about more new jobs will take place in the next few weeks.
