O’Neal Manufacturing has announced plans to open a new finishing plant in Tuscaloosa in 2016.

The division is part of Birmingham-based O’Neal Steel, which will open a plant on property owned by Nucor Steel, according to a report from the Tuscaloosa News.

The new facility will feature two plasma cutting lines that will cut steel plates made at Nucor into specific shapes for O’Neal customers.

O’Neal said the plant will employee around 34 once operational.

The company specializes in finished steel products, and does not manufacturer any steel at their operations. The steel finished by O’Neal is used by a long list of manufacturers, mainly for heavy equipment needs.

A plan was presented to the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority that states Nucor will build the plant and lease the facility to O’Neal.
