Metropolitan, an apartment development in Lakeview, is undergoing site work now.
Site work has begun in Lakeview for the $40 million Metropolitan apartment project.
John Gilbert, senior vice president with Houston-based developer Bomasada Group, said that utility work is being done now at the site, which is located at 2900 Seventh Ave. S. The development, which was first announced in April of 2014, will have 260 units, a club area and a fitness center.
“We’re very excited. We think this is the best site in town because it offers walkability to so many restaurants and is a few blocks away from UAB,” Gilbert said.
He said he expects 22 to 24 months of construction work.
Metropolitan is one of several multifamily developments in the Lakeview area, including Iron City Lofts and Park 35 on Clairmont.
